WALNUT CREEK, Calif., September 28, 2016 –  Brown and Caldwell Vice President Jeff Theerman, a leading expert in utility performance optimization and improvement, was inducted into the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) Hall of Fame this past summer. He is the sole honoree for 2016 and the first BC executive to be named to the prestigious post.

NACWA members help shape national environmental policy. Its Hall of Fame recognizes individuals who, through their actions and commitment, have made a significant positive impact on either the evolution of the association or its ability to effectively represent the interest of the clean water community on a particular issue.

Theerman has been with Brown and Caldwell, a leading environmental engineering and construction firm, since 2013 based in St. Louis. As a senior utility consultant for the firm, Theerman is the client services manager for Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District, where he was formerly its executive director.

His accomplishments include leading the St. Louis utility to provide services to 1.4 million people and negotiating a $4.7 billion consent decree with the EPA for the region’s multi-decade Capital Improvement and Replacement Plan. He’s currently working with the Philadelphia Water Department to lay the groundwork for a 25-year Water Master Plan.

Theerman was a member of NACWA's board of directors from 2004 to 2013, serving as the organization's president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. In 2013, he received NACWA’s Distinguished Service Award.

“My experience with NACWA has given me a wide perspective on the needs of water utilities and how these needs can be met with conservation, innovation and safety,” Theerman said. “It’s really meaningful to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. I realize that I’m in the company of an awful lot of smart people.”

Theerman’s knowledge base and relationships built in water service enable Brown and Caldwell to explore and stay on top of solutions that impact utilites across the country.

“We are proud of Jeff’s record and feel fortunate to have such an esteemed expert on our team,” said Chief Technical Officer Cindy Paulson. “This recognition is a great testament to his leadership in the industry.”

The induction ceremony was held during the NACWA summer meeting in Denver on July 11.
