Want to hear how the largest inland discharger west of the Mississippi is meeting their new permit requirements?

At the 2018 Water Environment Federation Technical Exhibition & Conference (WEFTEC), Brown and Caldwell’s Christina Romano met with leading water industry publication Water Online to record a “Water Talk” podcast where she talks about one of the largest public works projects in Sacramento’s history.

Christina discusses the $1.7 billion EchoWater Project, a monumental effort to take the region’s wastewater treatment to a whole new level to keep the Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District (Regional San) in compliance with its regulatory permits and improve water quality by reducing nitrogen loading into the Sacramento River. As the lead joint venture partner for the program management team, Brown and Caldwell is providing a full suite of program management services.

Regional San’s new permit also requires implementation of new filtration and disinfection facilities. Ultimately this will allow them to reuse half of their discharge for local agricultural and other uses.

Christina also highlights the project’s unique aspects, the technologies involved, the timeline for completion, and the positive impact this project is having on the local community.
