Brown and Caldwell has earned a top score on the 2022 Corporate Equality Index®, the nation’s foremost benchmarking tool that measures corporate policies and practices related to workplace equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer employees.

The CEI is conducted by the Human Rights Campaign, America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for LGBTQ+ people, which make up over 20 million people in the U.S. workforce.

“When the Human Rights Campaign Foundation created the Corporate Equality Index 20 years ago, we dreamed that LGBTQ+ workers—from the factory floor to corporate headquarters, in big cities and small towns—could have access to the policies and benefits needed to thrive and live life authentically,” said Jay Brown, Human Rights Campaign Senior Vice President of Programs, Research and Training. “We are proud that the Corporate Equality Index paved the way to that reality for countless LGBTQ+ workers in America and abroad. But there is still more to do, which is why we are raising the bar yet again to create more equitable workplaces and a better tomorrow for LGBTQ+ workers everywhere.”

The CEI rates companies on detailed criteria falling under four central pillars: non-discrimination policies across business entities; equitable benefits for LGBTQ+ workers and their families; supporting an inclusive culture; and corporate social responsibility.

BC is proud to have inclusive policies related to each pillar. Inclusive benefits offered at BC include equal domestic partner and same-sex family benefits and strong medical benefits for trans employees undergoing gender transition. BC’s Pride Alliance Employee Networking Group has also been instrumental in promoting equality for LGBTQ+ employees and is a crucial factor in BC’s top score.

“An LGBTQ+ inclusive workplace is essential to our business and our diversity, equality and inclusion strategy. One cannot make progress by only focusing on cisgender, gender binary and straight individuals. We all need to be included and the HRC index helps us ensure we get it right.”

Andrea Hall, BC Senior Director of Diversity & Inclusion

Brown and Caldwell joins the ranks of 1,271 major U.S. businesses that were also ranked in the 2022 CEI and helping to advance the cause of LGBTQ+ inclusion in workplaces. The full CEI report is available online at www.hrc.org/cei.
