Cogeneration is the simultaneous generation of electricity and recovery of thermal energy from the same fuel. As a conservation measure, cogeneration can be a particularly attractive alternative for energy and cost savings at hotel/casinos because these facilities have the basic characteristics for ideal cogeneration candidates. They operate 24-hours-per day and have continuous demands for both electricity and heating or cooling. This paper examines cogeneration opportunities at hotel/casinos in Nevada, focusing on the technical features and potential economic gains of such applications.
