Does an auditor actually have the final word in determining grant eligibility? Can the grantee do anything about it? Is it really a case of “prove it or lose it”? These are some questions that may have occurred to you if you’ve pondered the possibility of being audited. It’s quite natural to wonder about this; some projects have indeed received less than their full grant-eligible authorization after being audited. But grant-eligibility can have as much to do with how your project is managed as the final audit report itself.
