The purpose of my talk this morning is to lay a foundation for the remainder of the day by describing the decision making process used in the United Kingdom for producing rehabilitation strategies for water mains. I will outline the objectives of the approach used before stating the basic assumptions of which it is based. I will then define two levels of investigation (strategic and zonal), after which I will go on to describe the steps involved in the zonal investigations in a little more detail.
