To intercept a fast moving, non-attenuating chlorinated volatile organic compound (CVOC) plume, Brown and Caldwell designed and constructed a deep groundwater hydraulic containment system and mile long transmission forcemain under a fixed-price delivery. The system pumps and conveys up to 75-gpm to a treatment plant and reinjects using a double cased reinjection well capable of up to 70-gpm injection. Crossing private properties and directionally drilling the forcemain underneath a state highway, Brown and Caldwell delivered ahead of schedule, under budget, and incident free. The plume arrived at the extraction well boundary and was contained by the system that protected residents from a potential vapor intrusion risk of the plume.
