To address over 40 areas of concern (including NAPL) at a former chemical manufacturing site, Brown and Caldwell developed a holistic remedial strategy that balances economic redevelopment, ecological restoration, and public access. A focused and fast-track pre-design investigation led to the closure, sale, and redevelopment of over 35-acres of the site. Brown and Caldwell efficiently obtained permits and agency approvals to permanently fill freshwater wetlands for construction of the hydraulic barrier wall and cap. Wetland mitigation, ecological restoration, and construction of an eco-park transformed this site from an unusable brownfields site to a public park. The NJDEP Case manager described the site as “the perfect brownfields site.”
